Generic marketplaces accept any listing. Auction houses gate by relationship. PIECES sits between — every listing reviewed, every seller verified, but the marketplace stays open to anyone who can document what they sell.
For Collectors
PIECES is built for collectors who want documentation alongside the work — verified sellers, comparable sales on every listing, and a public record of provenance.
PIECES is built around three commitments that shape every product decision. The shape of the marketplace follows from them — not the other way around.
Generic marketplaces accept any listing. Auction houses gate by relationship. PIECES sits between — every listing reviewed, every seller verified, but the marketplace stays open to anyone who can document what they sell.
Auction results and comparable sales visible alongside the listing. Buy or bid against data, not against a counterparty's narrative.
Every transaction adds to the provenance record. Edition number, signature placement, condition grade, chain of custody — captured the same way for every print, comparable across artists and dealers.
Four protections, applied to every sale on PIECES.
Every seller passes Stripe identity verification before they can list. Verified Seller status is earned after three completed transactions with no disputes.
Sales under $5,000 route through Stripe with PIECES Assurance — a five-day post-delivery inspection window. Sales of $5,000 or more route through PIECES Protected, with funds held until you confirm receipt.
Every listing requires a Certificate of Authenticity. Listings of $5,000 or more carry additional documentation review by our authentication partners. Buyers see exactly what is on file.
Sellers ship directly to you and enter tracking in the app. Confirmed delivery starts the buyer protection clock — you have five days from delivery to flag any issue before funds release to the seller.
A print's value is what comparable editions clear at — not what a private seller asserts. PIECES surfaces that record alongside every listing.
Each listing surfaces recent comparable sales for the same artist and edition — public auction results and completed PIECES transactions, dated and sized. We are populating the auction-result corpus from public sources now.
Where the print last cleared at auction, and how the artist's market has moved since. Not every print has auction history — when it does, you will see it before you bid.
PIECES is built around the buy, but the value is in the hold. Your portfolio updates as comparable sales clear.
Your collection valued in something close to real time. Each piece holds its full record — documentation, condition, edition, and the chain of custody from its first PIECES sale onward.
Photographic condition records on acquisition. Update as the work travels, frames, or moves. Condition history travels with the print to the next owner.
Valuation tied to the same comparable-sales feed that powers listings. Watch the curve, not just the headline. The curve gets denser as the marketplace grows.
